Privacy notice

Last updated 27 July 2026

StatementBee is built so that your bank statements never reach our servers. This notice explains exactly what we do and do not collect.

The short version. Your statement files are opened, read and converted entirely inside your web browser. The contents of your statements — transactions, balances, account numbers — are never transmitted to us and never stored by us. We hold your email address and a short record of each conversion so your history and plan limits work.

1. Who we are

StatementBee (“we”, “us”) provides browser-based software that converts bank statement PDFs into spreadsheet and accounting file formats. We are the data controller for the limited personal data described below. You can reach us at support@statementbee.com.

2. How conversion works

When you select or drop a PDF, the file is read by code running in your own browser. Text extraction, transaction parsing, balance reconciliation and output file generation all happen on your device. The resulting Excel, CSV, QBO, QIF or OFX file is created locally and saved by your browser.

No copy of your statement is uploaded, transmitted, cached or stored on our infrastructure at any point. You can verify this yourself: open your browser's developer tools, switch to the Network tab, and convert a file. You will see no upload request. The conversion also works with your internet connection disabled.

3. What we collect

If you create an account, we store:

A note on file names. We store the name of the file you convert so you can recognise it in your history. Bank downloads sometimes include a partial account number in the file name. If you would rather we did not hold that, rename the file before converting, or use StatementBee without an account.

We do not collect, receive or store:

4. Why we may process this data

5. Who we share it with

We use a small number of providers to run StatementBee. Each receives only what it needs, and none of them receives your statement contents.

We do not sell personal data, and we do not use your data to train machine learning models.

6. How long we keep it

Account data is kept while your account is open. Conversion metadata is kept so your history remains useful, and is deleted when you delete your account. Billing records are retained for as long as tax law requires. Delete your account at any time by emailing us, and we will remove your data within 30 days except where we are legally required to keep it.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to complain to your data protection authority. Because we hold so little about you, most of these are quick to action — write to support@statementbee.com and we will respond within 30 days.

8. Cookies

We use cookies and local browser storage that are necessary for the service to function — keeping you signed in, and remembering how many free conversions you have used. We do not use advertising cookies or sell data to advertisers.

9. International transfers

Our providers may process data in countries other than yours. Where that happens we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses. Note again that this concerns your email and account record only — your statement contents never leave your device, so they are never transferred anywhere.

10. Children

StatementBee is a business tool and is not directed at anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

11. Changes

If we change this notice we will update the date above, and for significant changes we will notify account holders by email.
